Three Rougher Banks Flotation

THREE ROUGHERS BANKS CALCULATIONS:

The below calculations apply to:
  • Sequential rougher flotation of a polymetallic ore (e.g., copper, lead and zinc rougher circuits).

  • Rougher-scavenger followed by another rougher circuit (e.g., lead rougher scavenger plus zinc rougher).

  • Preflotation followed by rougher-scavenger or two rougher circuits


  • The first two rougher circuits tailings and feed streams are calculated from the concentrates and final tailing.
    3 Roughers circuits
    To use:
  • Enter the rougher 1 and rougher 2 concentrates names, flotation time, weights and assays from concentrate 1 (first row) to the last concentrate (last row).

  • Enter the rougher 3 concentrates and tailing names, concentrates flotation time, weights and assays.

  • The flotation times are not cumulative (no flotation time for the tailing).

  • Select the value element/mineral to plot the selectivity curves for each flotation circuit.

  • Provide one element/mineral grade at which cumulative recoveries for each circuit should be tabulated.

  • Provide one element/mineral recovery at which cumulative grades for each circuit should be tabulated.

  • Specify if the flotation kinetics are to be calculated (using regression techniques).

  • Click on "Mass balance" button to calculate the cumulative data and plot graphs.

  • Click on "Download results in Excel" button to save the results.


  • The cumulative recoveries are calculated with respect to each circuit feed.
    The calculation of iron sulphide (IS) and non sulphide gangue (NSG) assays can be completed at the Metallurgical.App website.
